Detailed description
The PRIMA 222 is a waterproof linear luminaire certified for ATEX zones 2 and 22. It is intended for buildings where an explosive atmosphere may occur occasionally and briefly: occasional presence of gas or vapours for zone 2, clouds of combustible dust for zone 22.
Applications
- Chemical plants and mixing workshops, in peripheral areas classified as zone 2.
- Hangars and warehouses for powdered materials, flour mills, silos and transfer areas.
- Surface treatment workshops and ventilated technical rooms.
- Sheltered outdoor storage areas, UV resistance limiting the ageing of the diffuser.
Technical highlights
- Up to 8800 lm for an efficacy of 124 lm/W: a level that allows a technical aisle to be treated with a reasonable installation spacing.
- Satin polycarbonate diffuser: the satin finish softens the distribution and removes bright spots that bother an operator looking up at the ceiling.
- IP66: fully dust-tight and resistant to water jets. In zone 22, keeping dust out of the luminaire is not just a maintenance matter; it is what prevents deposits from building up on a hot surface.
- IK10: the highest level of impact resistance on the IK scale.
- UV resistance: unprotected polycarbonate yellows and loses transmission under sunlight, which makes the useful flux drop well before the LEDs age.
- Ambient range from -25 to +55 °C, grey polycarbonate body.
- Modular design: components are accessed without dismantling the whole unit, with sealing restored on reassembly. On a classified site, ease of intervention weighs heavily in operating costs.
- 50,000 hours L90B10: at that point, 90 % of the luminaires still retain at least 90 % of their initial flux. This is a more demanding commitment than a simple L70 and it makes calculating the maintenance factor easier.
The first question to settle is not the flux but the actual classification of your zones: a luminaire designed for zones 2 and 22 is not suitable for zone 1 or 21. Once this point is established, the layout is calculated from the ceiling height and the target illuminance at the workstation.
