Detailed description
ELVACONTROL is a programmable lighting controller for livestock buildings. It does not produce light: it controls the dimmable luminaires of the installation and manages the progress of the lighting cycle over twenty-four hours, from a 7-inch colour LCD screen.
What it actually does
In livestock farming, light intensity and its progression during the day are management parameters just like ventilation or feeding. ELVACONTROL makes it possible to programme gradual ramps up and down rather than abrupt switching on and off. This smooth transition avoids sudden changes in light that disturb the animals and gives the flock time to move before complete darkness.
Applications
- Poultry buildings: broilers, laying hens, turkeys.
- Piggeries, farrowing units and post-weaning rooms.
- Cattle buildings and milking parlours equipped with dimmable luminaires.
- Multi-room installations requiring separate programmes from one room to another.
Technical highlights
- 3 to 6 channels, 5 A per channel: each channel controls an independent circuit. A nursery and a fattening area, or two halves of a building, can thus be treated separately without doubling the control equipment.
- Triac or 0-10 V signal: the two main dimming families are supported, which avoids imposing a single luminaire brand on the whole installation.
- Controlled load stated up to 3300 W, at 240 V AC 50/60 Hz.
- 7-inch colour LCD screen: programming is done on site, without software or a computer, which matters for equipment used daily by the farmer themselves.
- Programmable 24-hour cycle: scenarios are built by time slot and intensity level, then repeated automatically.
Before deciding on the number of channels, list the circuits you really want to separate, then check the dimming compatibility of your luminaires: a non-dimmable luminaire, or one using a different protocol, will not be controlled and will at best produce flickering. We check this consistency with you on request, and the luminaires for the sector are grouped in the poultry range.
A useful point for sizing: the theoretical sum of the channels (6 channels at 5 A at 240 V) exceeds the stated load. It is the manufacturer’s value of 3300 W that applies to the whole system, not the product of the channels. Beyond that, the load must be spread over several modules.
