The AVITUB-B is an LED tube designed for pig farming. It meets two requirements that are hard to reconcile: providing uniform illuminance in a building crowded with equipment, and surviving an ammonia-laden atmosphere as well as repeated high-pressure washing.
360° distribution and red spectrum
Its double V geometry spreads light over 360°, which eliminates shadows cast by pen partitions and pipework. Illuminance remains even from one aisle to the next, without the dark areas typical of a tube with frontal distribution. The AVITUB-B also uses red spectrum technology that pigs perceive as darkness: staff can work in the building and see clearly without interrupting the animals' sleep cycles, which changes how night rounds and farrowing supervision are organised.
Technical highlights
- 18 W to 36 W, up to 3960 lm, for an efficacy of 100 to 110 lm/W.
- Lengths from 600 to 1800 mm, diameter 42 mm: the range covers narrow aisles as well as large rooms, with continuous-line installation.
- Anti-ammonia and anti-acid materials: vapours from manure attack ordinary plastics and seals. This is the main cause of failure of standard tubes diverted to livestock use.
- IP66 and high-pressure washing up to 100 L/min: the luminaire stays in place during cleaning between two batches, without removal or covering.
- IK08: impact resistance suited to equipment handling in service aisles.
- Triac dimming from 0.2 % to 100 %: going down to 0.2 % makes it possible to reproduce a truly gradual dawn and dusk, whereas dimming that stops at 10 % produces a cut-off perceived as abrupt by the animals.
- Flicker-free operation: flicker is perceptible to many species and is a stress factor, especially at low illuminance levels.
- Operating range from -20 °C to +40 °C.
To size the installation, count the number of rows needed per room and the mounting height above the pens, then make sure your dimmer is of the Triac type; otherwise the fine dimming announced will remain unusable. We validate compatibility and the number of tubes on request.
