Detailed description
The REX APOLLO is a high-power floodlight designed for lighting large volumes in explosive atmospheres. It covers zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, and therefore both gas and dust risks, with a power range from 25 to 200 W for a flux of 3,750 to 28,000 lm.
Applications
- Chemical and petrochemical production units, for general area lighting.
- Unloading areas, pipe racks and storage areas for flammable products.
- Silos, grain installations and powder handling sites, exposed to dust risk.
- Pumping stations, treatment units and anaerobic digestion sites.
- Hot process areas, with admissible ambient temperature up to +60 °C.
Technical highlights
- Covers all four zones 1, 2, 21 and 22: a single model can be deployed on a site whose zoning mixes gas and dust risks, which simplifies referencing and spare parts management.
- Meanwell driver controllable via DALI or Zigbee: dimming is rarely available on this type of equipment. Here it allows the level to be lowered in unoccupied areas or modulated by workstation, without physical intervention in the classified zone, which is precisely the operation one seeks to avoid.
- AkzoNobel anti-corrosion paint: on a chemical site, the enclosure is under constant attack. The durability of the coating determines the mechanical life of the luminaire as much as its electronics.
- Service life certified at 50,000 hours up to +60 °C ambient: the precision matters, because a service life stated at laboratory temperature says nothing about actual behaviour in a process unit.
- IP66 and IK08: fully tight against dust and powerful water jets, with mechanical resistance suited to installations at height, outside direct impact zones.
- Range from -40 °C to +60 °C, with dimensions of 374x276x171 mm.
On a project in an explosive atmosphere, the approach is the reverse of a conventional project: you start from the zoning plan and the operating constraints, select the admissible equipment, then size the illuminance with what remains. The possibility of controlling the REX APOLLO via DALI or Zigbee deserves to be examined at this stage, as it influences the wiring to be planned.
