Detailed description

The GKS35-10 is a high-power LED lamp with an E40 / E39 base, designed to replace 400 W discharge lamps in existing lanterns and area luminaires. The operation is limited to changing the source and dealing with the ballast, without replacing the luminaire body.

Applications

  • Area lighting lanterns for industrial zones and logistics platforms.
  • Outdoor car parks and private service roads.
  • Factory yards, handling areas and loading docks.
  • Perimeter security lighting on existing poles.
  • Sites subject to wide temperature ranges, from -30 to +45 degrees C.

Specifications and implications

  • 110 W for 14,300 lm, i.e. 130 lm/W: this ratio makes it possible to recover the service provided by a 400 W discharge lamp while dividing the power drawn by more than three, with the added benefit of eliminating the restrike time typical of discharge lamps.
  • 288 SMD 2835 LEDs in omnidirectional distribution: the flux is spread all around the axis, as the original lamp did. This is the condition for the optics of the existing lantern to keep working as designed, instead of creating a hot spot directed downwards.
  • Finned heat sink with passive cooling: no fan, and therefore no moving parts to maintain on a light point that is often difficult to access.
  • Performance validated by LM80 tests: the lumen maintenance of the chips is measured according to this procedure, which gives a factual basis to the stated service life of 100,000 h.
  • Smart interface for sensors: allows presence detection or dusk-to-dawn control to be added, with significant savings potential on areas little used at night.
  • CRI above 80: suited to outdoor and technical uses, where identifying colours is sufficient with no requirement for fine rendering.
  • Dimensions of 282 x 229 mm: a dimension to check against the internal volume of your lantern before ordering. It is the main cause of incompatibility in this type of renovation.

First measure the space available under the canopy, then check that the ballast can be removed or bypassed. Once these two points are cleared, replacement is quick and the return on investment is easily calculated from the annual hours of use. We can carry out this calculation for your installed base.

Warm white or neutral white: choosing the colour temperature

Colour temperature is decided when the order is placed, not up in the cherry picker: once the luminaires are installed, going back means taking the ceiling down again. Here is the selection rule by type of space, the limits that apply outdoors and the situations where mixing two shades really causes problems.
